Before D-Day

On D-Day the USA landed in France because they wanted to help France.

In 1939 Germany HAD INVADED France and France HAD SURRENDERED / GIVEN UP.

In 1940 the Germans HAD BOMBED London during the Blitz and the British population HAD RESISTED.

In 1941 the Japanese HAD ATTACKED the US in Pearl Harbor and the USA HAD DECLARED war on Japan.

In 1941 Germany HAD INVADED Russia and in 1943 Russia HAD DEFEATED the German army.
