WHAT WERE YOU DOING...?

Today at 7.30:

# Mario WAS EATING & DRINKING

# Nabil WAS SLEEPING in his bed

Yesterday at 11pm:

# Zakaria WAS WATCHING TV and Mohamed WAS PLAYING on his computer

# Djahida, Amel, Siham and Dounia WERE GOING TO a club / disco

On Wednesday March 16th at 4pm:

# Djohar WAS PLAYING football

# Abir WAS PLAYING handball

# Daoud WAS SCORING a goal

# Amel and the other pupils WERE VISITING the Arsenal stadium.

Pour raconter une histoire au passé, on utilise le Prétérit: Soit on ajoute ED au verbe, soit le verbe est irrégulier.

Pour parler de ce qui ETAIT EN TRAIN DE SE PASSER à un moment précis du passé (« arrêt sur image au passé »)

(BE au passé) + VerbeING

Ex: Yesterday at 11 Mr Cheikh was watching TV.

Yesterday at 11pm:

# Frederic WAS PLAYING on the internet

On March 16th at 4pm:

# Medhy WAS VISITING the Emirates stadium

# Mohamed WAS PLAYING on the computer

# Sherazade WAS SPEAKING in a microphone in the conference room.

Pour parler de ce qui ETAIT EN TRAIN DE se passer à un moment précis du passé:

(BE au passé) + VerbeING

Ex: Yesterday at 11pm I was sleeping

Pour raconter une histoire au passé: PRETERIT: Soit on ajoute -ED au verbe, soit le verbe est irrégulier (on l'apprend!)

Ex: this morning Kamel ran, but missed his bus.

VOCABULARY

# beg: supplier Ex: I beg your pardon

# ask: demander, poser une question

# answer: répondre

# do (→ did): faire

# make (→ made): faire, fabriquer

# sleep (→ slept): dormir

Ex: Mohamed is tired because he didn't sleep enough yesterday

# enough: assez
