The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour

This document is a scene from the film « Pearl Harbour ».

The USA were attacked in Hawaii by Japanese planes on December 7th 1941. The US were taken by surprise!

The American ships were bombed and destroyed.

Marines were attacked: some Marines were killed and others were injured.

The Hawaian people panicked, escaped and the marines defended themselves.

VOCABULARY

# take (→ took / taken): prendre

# give (→ gave/given): donner

# a ship: un bateau

# a shelter: un abri

# graft: greffer

# a plane: un avion

Americans were taken by surprise in Pearl Harbor

This is a scene from a film.

The scene took place in the morning, on a Sunday, in December 1941 (during the second world war).

Americans WERE ATTACKED by Japanese planes in Hawaii.

American ships and submarines WERE BOMBED and DESTROYED.

A lot of soldiers WERE KILLED or INJURED.

The Americans WERE TAKEN by surprise by the Japanese.

Pour mettre en valeur la position de victime de qq'un / qqc, on utilise la voix passive:

(Sujet qui subit l'action) BE + Participe Passé

RAPPEL/ Le participe passé, c'est:

# Soit: Verbe+ED

# Soit: Verbe Irrégulier (3e colonne)
