London during the « Blitzkrieg »

This document is a film / a documentary / a newsreel about the Battle of London.

The German Luftwaffe attacked London during World War 2.

London WAS BOMBED by the Germans in the Blitzkrieg.

A lot of buildings and houses WERE DESTROYED.

A lot of people WERE KILLED or WERE INJURED by the German bombings.

The survivors WERE NOT INTIMIDATED.

They WERE EVACUATED to the Underground / Metro.

The children WERE EVACUATED out of London. They WERE SENT to the countryside.

Quand on veut mettre en avant la victime, celui/celle qui subit l'action, on utilise la VOIX PASSIVE:

(Sujet qui subit l'action) + BE + Verbe Participe Passé

Ex: The mouse was eaten by the cat.

RAPPEL/ Participe Passé:

# Soit: Verbe+ED # Soit 3e colonne.

VOCABULARY

# leave (→ left/left): partir

# bomb: bombe, bombarder

# injure: blesser

# survive: survivre

# evacuate: évacuer

# send (→ sent/sent): envoyer
