The American landing in Normandy
On June 6th 1944 the Americans landed in Germany. They attacked the German troops (the Nazis) in Normandy because they wanted to liberate / save the French population.
If the Americans didn't come in 1944, we WOULD speak German today!
This war lasted 6 years.
The name of the American general was Eisenhower. The German General was Rommel.
The name of the operation was « Overlord ».
In the night of June 5th American bombers bombed German positions.
Why « Overlord »? Because it was an enormous attack!
The landing was planned for June 5th but the weather was bad...
